About Me and Counselling

A little about me and how I work.

As a queer therapist, I completely understand how crucial it is to foster a safe and supportive environment for all of my clients. My background is primarily in person-centred therapy, which means I focus on creating a space where you feel safe and accepted. However, I believe in being flexible and integrating different therapeutic approaches to customize a unique experience that truly resonates with you and your needs.

My goal is to provide a non-judgemental where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to express yourself authentically. I’m here to listen with empathy and support you as we navigate your personal journey together, ensuring you feel heard and valued every step of the way.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), which means I adhere to ethical standards in my practice. This membership not only enhances my professionalism but also provides you with a resource if you ever have questions or concerns about my work.

If you're want to learn more about the BACP, feel free to visit their website at www.bacp.co.uk.

I'm here to help, I look forward to working with you!

A counsellor that looks really friendly.

The Person-centred approach

Person-centred therapy is at the heart of how I work. It’s a gentle, respectful approach that starts from the belief that you are the expert on your own life. Rather than analysing you or telling you what to do, my role is to offer a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, at your own pace.

In person-centred therapy, the relationship between us is really important. I aim to offer warmth, honesty, and acceptance, so you can bring whatever is going on for you without fear of judgement. Often, simply having a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood can help things begin to shift.

This approach trusts that when people feel safe and supported, they naturally move towards growth, clarity, and change. We might explore patterns, emotions, or experiences together, but always in a way that centres your autonomy and your own understanding of yourself.

Person-centred therapy forms the foundation of my work, but it isn’t the whole picture. My practice is integrative and trauma-informed, which means I draw on different therapeutic ideas and tools depending on what might be most helpful for you. I’m always mindful of how past experiences, including trauma, can shape the way we feel, relate, and move through the world, and we go at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

As a queer therapist, I’m also aware that many people carry experiences of misunderstanding, stigma, or having parts of themselves questioned or dismissed. I aim to offer a space where your identity, relationships, and ways of being are respected and affirmed — not explained away or treated as a problem. You don’t have to educate me or justify who you are here.

All of this sits on top of that person-centred foundation: a belief that you deserve to be met with care, curiosity, and respect, and that meaningful change can grow from feeling genuinely seen and supported.
